CenterWatch Unveils a Sleek New Look for Its Leading Clinical Research Educational Journal

Boston, Mass.—Mar. 30, 2010—CenterWatch today announced the unveiling of its newly redesigned, bi-monthly journal, Research Practitioner, a career advancement staple for clinical research professionals for more than 10 years. The publication, which has undergone an extensive cover-to-cover transformation, is set to debut with the release of the March/April issue on Mar. 31.

Although the contents of the journal as well as subscribers' ability to earn continuing education credits have not changed, the look and feel of it are dramatically different than its predecessor. The new design sports a much sleeker, more modern, magazine style with a powerful cover image, better-defined sections, and an airier layout—all intended to improve readability and keep the journal fresh and appealing.

"This will be a pleasing change for our readers while also adding tremendous value to the journal as a whole," says Steve Zisson, editorial director at CenterWatch, adding that the changes implemented were not simply cosmetic, but practical ones designed to enhance Research Practitioner's status as a top-level educational resource in the industry.

"A clean, cohesive design is an extremely critical component to the success and sustainability of any journal," Zisson continues. "For CenterWatch, it reaffirms a commitment to our readership to produce not only an informative publication, but a contemporary one."

The makeover comes on the heels of two other recently redesigned news publications under the CenterWatch brand, The CenterWatch Monthly and CWWeekly, both of which were updated in September 2009 in celebration of CenterWatch's 15th anniversary.

CenterWatch Honored a Fifth Consecutive Year for Best Healthcare Content

Boston, Mass.—November 10, 2009—CenterWatch, a leading provider of clinical trials information, received its fifth consecutive eHealthcare Leadership Award and seventh overall at the 10th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference held in Las Vegas last week. Presented by eHealthcare Strategy and Trends, a leading Internet publication, CenterWatch was awarded silver for Best Health/Healthcare Content.

With more than 1,100 entries received from both large and small companies in 17 classifications, this annual award recognizes the best web sites dedicated to healthcare and highlights the Internet's role in achieving business objectives. For CenterWatch, it is a validation of a recent site re-design, launched in January of this year with the goal of enhancing navigation and creating a more dynamic and interactive site for clinical research professionals and patients.

"It is wonderful to be honored and recognized for the work CenterWatch has put into its web site," says Jeff Levitz, senior vice president and general manager of CenterWatch. "In order to compete in a technology-driven business climate, it is absolutely imperative to have an intuitive, well-organized, and robust site. It is an evolutionary process, but we are well on our way to achieving our goals."

CenterWatch to Discuss Critical Physician-Patient Relationship to Maximize Clinical Study Referrals at MAGI's Clinical Research Conference

Boston, Mass.—October 5, 2009—Slow patient enrollment is one of the leading causes of delays in clinical trials with many studies missing deadlines nearly 90 percent of the time. In a presentation to industry professionals at MAGI's Clinical Research Conference in San Diego on Oct. 6, CenterWatch Senior Director and patient recruitment expertDavid Heck will discuss how physicians can right that lopsided statistic by educating patients about clinical trials and staying abreast of the drug development community.

According to Heck, patients are the largest segment of the population searching for health-related information online. "Patients want to know about the 'next new drug' they see in television ads or on the Internet. They are interested in research, but they don't have all the facts to make an informed decision," he adds. "Patients will always ask questions so it is up to the physician to supply the answers."

Heck, who has worked with pharmaceutical sponsor companies on patient recruitment strategies for more than 15 years, understands what trial delays can cost companies, not just in terms of money, but in terms of abandoned research. But, he says, a strong and trusting relationship between the physician and the patient really can be "a clear cut way to aid in patient recruitment and participation in clinical studies."

Heck will also discuss results from the last three years of two nationally-conducted surveys by CenterWatch—the first focuses on physician referrals into clinical trials and the second one examines the study volunteer experience where a key finding concludes that physicians ranked lower than friends or family members in terms of influencing a patient to join a trial.

About David Heck

David Heck is senior director of CTLS Sales at CenterWatch and oversees sales activities associated with web-based solution services to support patient recruitment and clinical trial disclosure. With more than 15 years experience in the field of patient recruitment, Heck has been a speaker and panelist at many U.S. and international conferences on the topics of patient recruitment, Internet health seekers, data-driven study planning tools, and registry/results compliance programs.

CenterWatch Celebrates 15-Year Milestone as Leading Information Provider for the Clinical Trials Industry

Boston, Mass.—August 27, 2009—CenterWatch, a leading provider of industry news, data analysis, and proprietary market research for clinical trials professionals and patients, turns 15 next month and will mark the occasion with a special, newly redesigned edition of it's flagship news publication, The CenterWatch Monthly.

Acquired in 2008 by Jobson Medical Information, LLC, a premier integrated healthcare information and communication services provider, CenterWatch has been one of the most reliable sources of clinical trial news and market information since it's founding in 1994.

"We are extremely proud of this achievement and the contributions we have made in this community," says Chris Pooley, senior vice president of CenterWatch. "We have grown up in an industry that has seen considerable change over the last decade and a half and CenterWatch has continued to change with it to stay relevant."

One of those early efforts was the advent of CenterWatch's clinical trial listings database, an endeavor that began 15 years ago and has grown to become one of the largest and most extensive online listings of clinical trials actively recruiting patients.

"When the Internet was still in its infancy as a viable tool for consumers and businesses alike, CenterWatch went online with its clinical trial listings becoming one of the first sites to do so," adds Pooley. "That move opened up a whole new world for health information seekers while trial sponsors found a revolutionary and critical avenue for patient recruitment. We were a pioneer in that respect."

Today, CenterWatch is still taking advantage of next generation technologies, most notably through a partnership announced last week with TrialX, a health information technology startup that will use its Web 2.0 platform to deliver CenterWatch's trial listings to various online health portals and social-networking sites.

"We realized long ago that this was a technology-driven marketplace," Pooley continues. "This is another step into the future of business and we look forward to our continued evolution in the industry."
